This story belongs to the most interesting form of fairy tales — fantasy. Chronologically, the author determined the countdown of all events from some second era. Then the magical people of the elves knew how to forge the Rings of power. And now the evil and treacherous wizard Sauron made his way into their confidence. He learned the art of a blacksmith — an expert and forged for himself the magical Ring of Omnipotence. Having taken possession of this ring, he wanted to rule the whole world. He almost succeeded, but the strong and courageous Prince Isildur cut off Sauron’s finger, on which was the Ring. Unfortunately, the prince did not want to destroy it, and the ring began its terrible journey through the fairy-tale world.
The Fellowship of the Ring
Many years passed, and now Sauron wanted to complete the work he had begun, and conquer all of Middle-earth. Meanwhile, in the fairy-tale land of the Shire, Frodo lives peacefully with his uncle Bilbo. By chance, the Ring of Power came to them, but they do not even know what a terrible and magical power it has. The good and fair wizard Gandalf finds out about this, but Sauron finds out this news. He sends nine Black Riders to search for the Ring.
To prevent the disappearance of Middle-earth and deprive Sauron of magical power, the Ring of Omnipotence must be destroyed. It can be destroyed only where it was forged in the sacred mountain Orodruen. Gandalf convinces Frodo to show this ring to the council of wizards in Rivendell. They must decide what to do with this ring. Frodo is accompanied by his faithful friend Sam and two merry hobbits. Already on the first night they encounter the Black Knights of Sauron, and understand what danger threatens them. The brave warrior Aragorn helps them escape from danger, but, unfortunately, escaping from the Black Knights, Frodo is wounded by a poisoned dagger. Despite this, he gets to Rivendell, and there he is saved from death.
There, at the council of magicians, Gandalf talks about the magical power of the Ring, and the danger that threatens all living things. In addition, he reports that according to the prophecy, only Frodo is able to take this ring to Mount Orodruen and destroy it there. By decision of the council, the wizard Gandalf, Aragorn and Boromir, the elf Legolas and the funny dwarf Giml are sent along with the hobbits on this dangerous journey. Thus the fellowship of the ring was formed.
Two fortresses
The Fellowship of the Ring continues its difficult and dangerous journey. In the forest, they are ambushed by Sauram’s orc warriors. In this unequal battle, Boromir dies, but saves the lives of Frodo and his comrades. The other two hobbits are kidnapped by enemies, and true to their duty, Aragon, Giml and Legolas set off in pursuit. But the young hobbits Merry and Pippin manage to escape, and they find themselves in a magical forest inhabited by amazing trees that have the mind like people and can travel long distances. The leader of these amazing creatures of the Ents carries little hobbits in his crown to the gates of Saruman. There they learn that Gandalf’s former comrade has taken the path of betrayal and sworn to serve Sauron. He wants to take possession of the coveted ring and become the owner of complete power over the world. To do this, he creates a whole army of ruthless and merciless killers. Aragon with his friends enter into battle with enemies. At the ruins of the fortress, they meet with Gandalf, Pippin and Merry. Gandalf explains that a fierce battle with Sauron’s army lies ahead.
At this time, Frodo and his friend Sam overcome the rocks, and approach the Dark Kingdom of Sauron. During the descent, Sam managed to catch Gollum chasing them. He also wants to get the ring, but only by cunning and deceit. Gollum promises to lead the hobbits through the swamp of the dead to the Dark Realm, while he plots to lure them into a trap and take possession of the ring.
Return of the King
This book is the end of a trilogy. To defeat the forces of evil, the hobbits had to split up. Pippin went with Gandalf to the aid of Gondor, who must resist the forces of Sauron. Merry stays to serve King Rohan. His troops must come to the aid of Gondor. Three comrades Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, at the head of a small detachment of warriors, are also sent to Gondor to participate in the decisive battle. They have to go down the Road of the Dead. This is a tunnel from which no one has ever returned. In this tunnel, Aragon persuades the army of the dead to take part in the battle.
Having won a difficult victory over the army of Sauron, the defenders of Gondor, having gathered their remaining forces, are sent to the very heart of the dark kingdom. At this time, Frodo continues his difficult path to the place where the ring can be destroyed. The Warriors, led by Aragorn, decide to take the fight to the death in order to draw the attention of the all-seeing eye of Saurom away from Frodo. This should enable him to complete the assigned mission.
But Gollum gets in the way of Frodo. He rushes at Frodo and tries to take the ring. In a fit of fight, Gollum bites off Frodo’s finger along with the ring and breaks into the lava of the volcano. Not only he perishes there, but the Ring of Omnipotence. After the death of the ring, the all-seeing eye of Sauroma explodes, and the army disappears. Surrounded on all sides by lava, Frodo and Sam are rescued by giant eagles.
After this victory, the world is saved, and Aragorn is erected on the throne of the kingdom. Frodo travels with Gandalf from the land of the elves across the sea to the land of immortality.
My Opinion
Of all the films in the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring is the most heartfelt, retaining Tolkien’s style. It’s just amazing special effects, sound. The decorations deserve special attention. This is how I envisioned Middle-earth.
A big bow to the dressers and hairdressers!
But the best thing is the actors. Jackson has put together an amazing cast. Particularly pleased with Ian McKellen. His game, despite the absence of strong and vivid emotions, fascinates. Forgive me, Viggo fans, but I think he’s overdoing it a bit. He turned out to be a somewhat vain hero. It’s probably the fault of the writers, though.
My respect to Cate Blanchett. This is very similar to Galadriel, a wise, strong and beautiful woman in her own way. Arwen is amazing too. It seems that in Middle-earth they love smooth features, pallor (look at Legolas) and everything shiny. Sean Bean pleased with his subtlety. Never overplayed, never played. A wonderful actor. Hobbits are amazing. They turned out such wonderful, simple, open and cheerful halflings!
